Welcome! "Following pages represent a visual distillate from a voyage to Lake Baikal, done in July and August 1998. Lake Baikal lies near the Russian-Mongolian border, 60 km from the city of Irkutsk. It is the largest freshwater lake on the Eurasian continent and the deepest one in the world, and is famous for its beautiful natural surroundings. We reached it by the Trans-Siberian Railroad from Moscow, after a 5500km journey. During our stay in Russia we haven't met any unsurmountable difficulties and I can disaffirm most of the bad rumors spread throughout the western world. Still, it is a country where it is not known what will happen tomorrow and yesterday is too far back to remember... This journey has really enchanted me and I would like to undertake more 'expeditions' to the heart of Asia. Suggestions, experiences and tips are most welcome."
